Files on invoices
Invoices can carry files both ways. Attach a quote or photos for the customer to see before they pay, deliver digital work that unlocks once they've paid, or ask them to upload documents back to you.
| What it's for | Plan | |
|---|---|---|
| Attachments | Files the customer can see right away, such as a quote, contract or photos of the work | Basic and Premium |
| Secure Files | Files the customer can download only after paying, such as finished designs or a digital product | Premium |
| Secure Links | Links that appear only after payment, such as a course or a shared folder | Premium |
| File Requests | Ask the customer to upload files, such as signed forms or photos | Premium |
Any file type works. Each file can be up to 10MB on Basic and up to 3GB on Premium.
Attach files
When you create or edit an invoice on the web, use Upload Files under Attachments, or drag files onto the box. In the app, tap Add Attachment. To add more after the customer has paid, open the invoice on the web and click Attach Files.
Each attachment on the invoice page has a Visible switch. Turn it off to keep a file for your records without showing it to the customer. Hidden files never reach the payment page.
When you add attachments to an invoice that's already been sent, the customer gets an email with the new files.
Deliver files after payment
Add files under Secure Files, and links under Secure Links with Add URL. Links must be full web addresses, such as https://example.com.
Before paying, the customer sees what they'll get under What You'll Get: the file names and how many links, but not the files themselves. As soon as they pay, the files and links unlock on the payment page, and their receipt links back to it so they can download them later.
Make sure your links work for the customer without a separate sign-in you haven't given them.
Ask the customer for files
Request the files
When you create the invoice, tick Request files from customer and describe what you need. Or open an existing invoice on the web and click Request Files, or tap Request Files in the app. The invoice needs a customer email.
The customer uploads them
The customer gets an email that you've requested files, with a link to the invoice. They can upload once they've paid, under Requested Files.
Download them
You get an email when they upload. The files appear under File Requests on the invoice, and the request changes from PENDING to FULFILLED. Click Download to save each one.
