Import products
Moving from another system, or keeping your stock list in a spreadsheet? Import it on the Register instead of typing products in one by one. AI reads the sheet and maps its columns. Nothing is created until you've reviewed it.
Importing is on the Register only.
What the sheet can hold
Upload an .xlsx, .xls or .csv file with one product per row. Your column names don't have to match ours. The import recognises these fields:
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Name | Needed on every row |
| Price | Rows without a readable price are flagged for review |
| SKU, Barcode | Optional |
| Cost | Optional |
| Category | Matched to your categories, or created. Rows without one go in a category called Imported. |
| Brand | Optional |
| Stock | Optional starting count |
| Low stock at | Optional low-stock alert level |
| Supplier | Matched to your suppliers, or created |
The first 2,000 rows are imported. Split a bigger list into more than one file.
Import a spreadsheet
Choose the file
Open Products and tap Import, then Choose file. You'll see Importing products… while the Register reads the sheet.
Check the summary
The Register shows how many products are ready and confirms that Nothing has been created yet. Check:
- Columns: which of your columns went where, and which were Ignored
- Possible duplicate categories: names that look like categories you already have, such as "Drink" and "Drinks". They're created as separate categories, so fix the name in the sheet if they should be one.
- Adding to existing categories and Creating new categories
- Already in your catalog: rows that match a product you have, by barcode or by name in the same category. These are skipped.
- Creating new suppliers
- Barcode clashes: barcodes already in your catalog, or used twice in the file. A barcode on two products won't scan reliably.
Fix any rows
Tap Review N rows needing attention to see rows with no name, no readable price or another problem. Edit a row's name, price, category, SKU or barcode, or untick it to leave it out. Tap Review all N rows to see everything.
Import
Tap Import N products. The Register tells you how many were created and how many were skipped.
