Sales tax
Paybrain adds sales tax to every register sale at the rate you set, whether you sell on the Register, the web register or the Paybrain app.
Set your rate
Turn on Charge sales tax and enter your Tax rate (%), for example 8.25. It's one shared setting, so every Register, the web register and the phone app charge the same rate.
- Go to Settings›Payments. You can also set it in the setup wizard.
- Turn on Charge sales tax and enter your Tax rate (%).
- Tap Save changes.
- Go to Point of Sales›Register settings.
- Under Payments, turn on Charge sales tax and enter your Tax rate (%).
- Click Save payment settings.
- Open the POS tab and tap Register settings.
- Under Sales tax, turn on Charge sales tax and enter your Tax rate (%).
- Tap Save settings.
How tax is worked out
Paybrain works out every bill in the same order, on the Register and on the server, so the price the cashier quotes is the price that's charged.
Discounts come off first
Manual, preset and member discounts, plus the cash discount if you use card pricing, reduce the price before tax. Customers pay tax on what they actually pay for.
Tax is added
Your rate is applied to the discounted amount.
Credits are applied
Loyalty rewards and prepaid appointment deposits pay part of the bill. They don't lower the tax, because the goods were still sold at full price.
Tip goes on last
Tips are never taxed or discounted.
Reporting
Reports on the Register, the web and the phone app break out the tax you've collected for any date range, so you can file your returns.
